Volksgarten Salzburg
The Volksgarten in Salzburg is among our most recommended spots in the city of Mozart to enjoy the hot summer. And we definitely want to share why a visit is worthwhile.
Imagine strolling through green meadows on a sunny day, passing colorful flowerbeds and shady trees. The fresh air and the pleasant sound of the Salzach in the background create a perfect oasis of relaxation. Whether you want to enjoy a picnic with friends, read a good book, or simply relax, the Volksgarten has something for everyone.

Whether you want to enjoy a picnic with friends, read a good book, or simply relax, the Volksgarten has something for everyone.
Especially in the summer, the Volksgarten comes to life. There are numerous events, from open-air concerts to theater performances or street food festivals, that create a magical atmosphere. The charming garden with its small kiosk invites you to enjoy a refreshing drink and delicious snacks. For children, sports equipment can be rented and they can romp around on the large playground. Two different zones make visiting the playground with both small and big children worthwhile. In the Volksgarten, everyone comes together!
We can also recommend the outdoor pool, which provides the necessary cooling on hot days. Here you can swim a few laps or just relax in the cool water and enjoy the sun. In winter, this is the stadium of the Red Bull hockey team and a public artificial ice rink where you can skate through the park.

Our tip
The Volksgarten is a place where we can recharge our batteries and enjoy to the fullest again and again. Come by and see for yourself why this park is so special - we're sure you'll love it just as much as we do!
Fortress
Hohensalzburg
A must-see is the Hohensalzburg Fortress, one of the largest fully preserved castles in Europe.
Perched high above the city, it not only offers a breathtaking view of Salzburg and the surrounding landscape, but also a fascinating journey into the past.
The fortress houses museums that vividly illustrate the history of the building and the city. A tour through the medieval rooms and a visit to the Prince's Chamber bring history to life.

The Mönchsberg
For those who want to enjoy idyllic peace even during the peak travel season, we recommend a walk over the Mönchsberg, the city mountain, where the fortress and the Museum of Modern Art are located.
Grapes are even grown up here, charming mountain restaurants and a sweet kiosk provide a little refreshment while city hiking.
The shade-giving forests are a real blessing on hot days - and in winter, the Salzburg children even toboggan on the hills of the Mönchsberg.

The Kapuzinberg
The Kapuzinerberg remains untouched. A steep climb from Linzergasse, a secluded monastery, few houses, breathtaking views, and plenty of nature.
In the beech forests of the Kapuzinerberg, even chamois live, right in the middle of Salzburg! If that's not a promise.
Ambitious runners appreciate the Kapuzinerberg as a cross-country route and if there's rustling in the bushes, it's probably a geocaching fan searching for hidden caches.
Pack your hiking backpack and look forward to a day in Salzburg without the usual hustle and bustle!

The Andräviertel
The Andräviertel in Salzburg is one of our absolute favorite neighborhoods. Here, one finds a perfect mix of historical buildings and modern life. The magnificent Andräkirche, Mirabell Palace, the modern Mozarteum University, and the beautiful Mirabell Garden offer a breathtaking backdrop, ideal for exploring!
What we especially appreciate about the Andräviertel is the variety. We love the cozy cafés and bars like Röstzimmer 15 or Academy, where one can spend relaxing hours with excellent coffee or delicious beer. The sensational restaurants like Pasta e Vino or Pescheria Backi spoil us with culinary highlights. Every Thursday, the Schranne weekly market invites you to browse and offers fresh, regional products directly from the producers.
